Last year
I wished for
frosted nails,
a silver dawn,
fiery red stilettos,
a slim chiselled body,
white flowers, and dreams
drenched in the October rain.
I stacked them neatly in between
the layers of vibrant rainbow resolutions.
Now
those resolutions have turned gray,
flowers have become rotten
and I am just the same
with no slim body,
no frosted nails,
not even shoes,
not a dream,
nor a dawn,
but
Just this indigo blue butterfly
Painted on my shoulder,
a shade deeper than the ocean,
fluttering and flapping,
gazing at the deep blue sky,
goading me to start
all over again.
wishing all of you a happy new year, season's greetings with lots of love ...

You are the same, a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul. May the new year be kind to you and may you find happiness in each day .
one thing about the beginning of a year, it gives us REASON to begin again; and a fluttering butterfly is no small thing!!
Happy new year to you too dear Moon of which your name will count 13 this year. On August 31st there will be a blue moon for your blue butterfly to fly to. :)
Isnt that wat life is all about???? hoping.... and hoping even when previous hopes werent fulfilled...
Hi
Very nice & delightful poem. Loved the beautiful indigo blue butterfly - May all your aspirations and all your dreamz be fulfilled in 2012.
Best Wishes
Happy New Year!
I suppose we grow by continually growing bored with last year's dreams and creating new ones.
You are already very beautiful, so please don't wish to change anything about yourself.
Your loving Soul shines through:)
that is a really cool tat...and all that other stuff it is fleeting any way...hope that this coming year is a fresh page for you...smiles.
We gave to look for that butterfly
What a heartfelt and beautiful poem... Your butterfly to me is what. rries your hope....
Lovely post!

love the way you used the butterfly metaphor in this and also how you formatted the lines - the second stanza looks like an upside down tree which goes well visually with your words.
Beautiful poem and butterfly...and even more, a beautiful woman. Happy New Year.
hi moon...i am sorry to copy so much...but you so amaze me, my friend. during this evening when my heart is tender (following the suicide of a friend) i read your words and even when you are left with this:
"not even shoes,
not a dream,
nor a dawn,
but
Just this indigo blue butterfly
Painted on my shoulder,
a shade deeper than the ocean,
fluttering and flapping,
gazing at the deep blue sky,
goading me to start
all over again."
you offer the hope of the light touch of the indigo blue butterfly.
you offer the hope to "start all over again" when tonight i had lost it. thank you, my precious friend.
A lovely new beginning.. and thoughts are beautiful.. I enjoyed reading this one.. thanks for sharing... Happy New Year My friend. May the year bring you Happiness, Peace, love and prosperity.

I LOVE this poem, Moon, and you are beautiful as you are. May your indigo butterfly fly you to some interesting places in the coming year. Then fly home and write us all about it:)
Wow! That's all I'm saying, Dreamz! You're in your element with this one. One of my favourites from you.
Happy new year to you, beautiful lady.
Your form so suits your content.
Happy New Year.
How we wish and dream for these things..but realized it is beyond our grasp. Love the way you use the metaphor of blue indigo butterfly ~
Cheers for the new year ~
a great write here! the resolutions we make... and break (I often break mine no later than a few weeks after making them haha) but it's all part of the new year fallacy - I liked the layout of this poem too - expanding - the resolutions - contracting - then mixed - the possibilities - nice!
We often don't need what we wish for anyway!
Beautiful in form, words and message. All the best to you in 2012.
Beautiful! A very happy new year to you too Moon!
Happy New Year! May you continue to wish and dream as someday your dreams become realities...
I stopped again just to say happy new year, I hope it's a great one!!!!!!!!!
C D,
Read 3 poems now. What you say in Living Life has been seen by me and that made me turn vegetarian in 1995. The one on Frogs is so real. Thanks for your wishes. We need to carry on regardless whether our wishes made on previous year end come true or not. You have a magical way with words.
Take care
Greetings:
Happy Happy New Year.
Appreciated your support of 2011,
Best Wishes for the year of 2012…
Your contribution is always welcome!
Lots of blessings and cheers sending your way.
See you soon.
