I step out of myself
and watch her
staggering and numb
casting and recasting herself
wrinkled and sore feet;
her ... and him ...
them and
everyone;
I watch you all
passive and pale
half smiles
rolling down your cheeks.
So many people
so much more dead
than all those corpses.
They have all died
without cremation
without burial.

This is one of your best Celest. It's as deep and obvious as the painting and as one of the dead, I see.
Thanks for introducing Hugo Simberg and Tampere Cathedral.
Excellent!
Wise words...so many don't live this life that we have...I love it.
Wonderful! How different the world would be if we could remember just to live. As TUG says this is an excellent piece and what I love most is the line 'half smiles rolling down your cheeks' and of course the last verse! Excellent indeed.
Very powerful, insightful writing here!
A sad commentary on what the voice in the piece is going through and what she's seeing in others.
Very poignant. I especially love your title. Sadly, all too true.
Hello.
I'm always enthralled when I visit here.
Excellent imagery, Baishali!
Remove These Satin Sheets...
Aw, this was a really nice post. In idea I would like to put in writing like this additionally - taking time and actual effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and by no means seem to get something done.
Sounds like night and day of the living dead.
Haunting.
I really like your image of half smiles rolling down cheeks.
Much said in not a lot of words, well done.
A deep and very meaningful poem about those who "forgot to live." You brought me to an awareness of this reality with much emotions. I really enjoyed reading. :-)
ugh yes - tight write and i agree...have to remind myself daily to really live...good write..
frightening huh? yes i see dead people too...walking...life sucked out of them...running one thing to the next without and direction...poignant for sure...
Great perception on society, and so true, many just wade along.
I'm sure most of us could take a lesson from this...I know I've been accused of zombie mode more than once! Love the combination of art work and words...they always make for my favorite pieces!
wicked and biting piece
Haunting and sad, but a great write. Part of me feels uneasy, not because there isn't truth in what you write about, but also because it feels like a sad reflection of the viewer who sees all the "living dead", unable to see life's potential still within them, no matter how buried.
Anyway, a good poem and gave me much food for thought.
Oh .. this is soooo real, Baishali.. a perfect portrayal of today's dead mechanical world..
I really LOVED the way you did it... Bravo!!
C D,
So true. Those who live not being what they themselves are die a thousand deaths. One should be own self and live with own conscience.
Take care
PS : Left comments on previous 2 also.
for so many of us, walking through this life half awake is the only way we feel comfortable doing it. someday we will awaken. it is a quiet hope we nurture within.
a piece full of impact!
