MOONLIGHT AND DREAMZ

Welcome to my world of dreams where imagination and reality, fancy and truth, laughter and tears move hand in hand. I will let you have a glimpse at the share of my own sky, sometimes sunshine bright, and sometimes with rainstorm. I will take you to memories that are like a serene glow of moonlight, a whisper of mountain breeze, and a rushing gushing brook.

    river ...

    The river
    surging ahead
    in monsoon,
    inches rising,
    bouncing like jubilant boys,
    carrying along
    the trivial and the significant
    silent sighs
    villages
    cattle
    people.

    The river
    receding
    in summer,
    drying till a trickle
    in the sand
    baring
    the trivial and the significant
    straws
    women’s hair
    torn paper boats
    rusted metals.

    The river
    existing
    in all seasons,
    in either form,
    roaming like a wanderer,
    hoping for a destination
    reflecting
    laughter and tears
      debris and moss green leaves
    and a lump of soil.

    The river,
    a life,
    the only permanence
    that keeps changing every moment.

You're right in portraying both sides of the river. It's tranquility as pictured is beautiful but its turmoil can be devastating. The only permanence is as you say, in its being.

Water and life seem inextricably bound here, presence and absence, arrival and departure,--a great study in many contrasts and juxtapositions, with some lovely language as well.

The river is like Spirit - always existing no matter what befalls it.

    surging/receding
carrying along/baring the trivial and significant
I particularly like how you wove into the second stanza the belongings (of the cattle, women, children and men) 'straws, women's hair, torn paper boats, rusted metal'
And of course your clever insertion of 'a lump of soil'
Beautifully written as always dear lady!

I love this poem, the repetition of the carrying along and baring of the significant and insignificant is very effective. I especially love the closing lines. Strong writing, Moon.

The river-jubilant boys comparison bounces off the screen, it's so wonderful and unexpected!
